Mega Solar Project in The City of Sakai

In an attempt to clean the air by reducing CO2 emissions, Japan announced that two gigantic solar power generation plants will be installed in the city of Sakai.

The title of this project is long – The Marine Plan of Mega Solar Power Generation City Sakai. I guess the title has to fit the size of the project, because the two facilities will have a combined maximum capacity of 28.000 kW and will help reduce CO2 emissions to 10,000 tons annually. Pretty good. The city will work in conjunction with Sharp Japan and Kansai Electric Power, and Sharp plan to use solar panels of silicon thin films.

Sakai hopes to be one of the greenest cities in Japan, and this project will have a good start in its “low-carbon” metropolis initiative. Even the locations are well planned, with the first facility built in the highest part of the area of industrial waste, and the second complex will be a solar power generation one installed in Sharp´s buildings and other companies in the manufacturing complex, so Sharp can continue using solar energy and make their products greener.
